SearchWest Inc. is the recognized leader amongst recruitment agencies and headhunters specializing in sourcing, identifying, evaluating and placement of professionals in the Sales, Marketing, Consumer Goods, Operations, Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Production, Industrial and Transportation industries.
When looking to update their out-of-date website, SearchWest also decided that they wanted to build their own job listing site and manage it in house.
The Challenge
SearchWest wanted to build a customized job listing site to replace the one they were currently using. The main problem they had was that their current solution had a lot of great features that they used, but it also had a plethora of features that they didn't use, didn't know how to use, or simply just didn't want. So the challenge for us was to really get to the bottom of their needs and give them a customized solution that was economical and efficient for them to use.
On top of their job listing site, SearchWest wanted a CMS to manage their content. For years they had a static web site and each content change would take days while they sent a request to their web developer to get the changes in. So for SearchWest, a CMS was a must have. The other need was to add a blog to their site and to completely overhaul their site's graphic look and feel.
The Solution
SearchWest decided that their job listing site would reside on a subdomain of their main site, but still have the same look and feel. So we created for them jobs.searchwest.ca. We created a fully customized job database and a simple to use administration interface. The admin site allowed for SearchWest to manage their job listings and make changes quickly and painlessly. The development was done using the Zend Framework.
For the main SearchWest.com site, we decided to use a customized version of the Silverstripe CMS. Silverstripe is a simple, non-bloated CMS that allows for easy extensibility. Once again, we called upon our friends at Emilicious Designs Inc. to manage the site's graphic design. We combined that great design with Silverstripe's great CMS plus our own additional modules to accomodate the site's blog, and the client was extremely happy with the results!
