idGlow.com - a fun, free, interactive dating site launches summer 2011.
Adsum Drive was fortunate enough to be involved with this project from concept to production. As our first large-scale Django project this was an especially exciting project. We were able to take the concept from ideas, designs, and specs on paper to a fully functioning dating site within a tight time period.
The Challenge
idGlow Inc. wanted to build a dating site that wasn't just like every other site out there. So they had some very specific features and functionality in mind when coming to Adsum Drive. The challenge was to take a large set of functionality, create a workable spec and schedule and get the site built!!
Aside from the custom functionality, the site needed a blog, a user message forum and some location based functionality.
The Solution
We had been playing with Django for some time (we built this site with it) - but hadn't had an opportunity to create a larger Django project so when this opportunity came around, we jumped at the chance to use Django. (as an aside - Django rocks!)
We paired Django with PostgreSQL and PostGIS to build out the site. The designs were done by the folks over at idGlow Inc. and we built out the html and css to complete the look and feel of it all.
idGlow is currently in final testing over at idGlow and they are going over the site in the part that we like to call "putting the shine on". We're very excited for the site to launch and looking forward to helping idGlow with a bunch of cool features that they have planned for the future!
